Language support for public websites
Overview
Forerunner public websites can now support Spanish-speaking residents by displaying content in Spanish. This helps make floodplain information more accessible to a wider range of community members.
What’s Included
When Spanish language support is enabled:
- A language dropdown appears on the public site, allowing visitors to toggle between English and Spanish.
- If a visitor’s browser is set to Spanish, the site will automatically default to that language.
- Core elements of the site - such as navigation, map tools, and system-generated content - are available in Spanish.
- Some content is translated using AI. A banner is displayed on all pages to let guest users know.
- Spanish and English are the only languages supported at this time.
What’s Not Translated
To preserve clarity and accuracy:
- Record forms, saved views, property addresses and custom map layer labels are shown in English. These may contain technical language or acronyms that should not be automatically translated.
