My Elevation Certificate is unable to be geocoded by Forerunner
When an Elevation Certificate is uploaded to your account, Forerunner geocodes the document to the correct property on your Forerunner dashboard map as part of the data extraction and error detection pipeline. Sometimes, the EC cannot be geolocated by our system. This means that the EC cannot be matched to a property in Forerunner and the location cannot be identified with certainty.
In the event that you got an email about an Elevation Certificate that failed to process due to geolocation problems, the following instructions demonstrate how to re-upload the Elevation Certificate to the correct property in Forerunner.
- Download the Elevation Certificate using the
Download
dropdown option from theActions
menu in the upper-righthand corner. - After downloading the document, delete the Elevation Certificate using the
Delete
button from the sameActions
menu. You want to delete the document to avoid duplication of the EC in your Forerunner account. In the next steps, you will re-upload the Elevation Certificate to the correct property in Forerunner. - Find the area/parcel of the Elevation Certificate's intended location on your Forerunner dashboard map.
- If you cannot find an existing property for the Elevation Certificate, create a property in the intended location using the `Create Property` button on your dashboard map.
- Upload the downloaded Elevation Certificate directly to the property you created using the
Upload
button on theDocuments
tab of the Property Information Panel. - The newly uploaded Elevation Certificate will need to process through the data extraction and error detection pipeline, so be sure to look our for an email once processing has successfully completed!
My document is not an Elevation Certificate
There is a quick and easy fix for documents uploaded as Elevation Certificates that fail to process because they are not Elevation Certificates. To fix the issue and assign the file to the correct document type:
- Download the document using the
Download
dropdown option from theActions
menu in the upper-righthand corner. - After downloading the document, delete the document using the
Delete
button from the sameActions
menu. You want to delete the document so you can fix the document type assignment and avoid duplication of the file in your Forerunner account. In the next steps, you will re-upload the file with the correct document type in Forerunner. - Find the property the document pertains to by either searching for the address or clicking on the property on your dashboard map. Click the
Upload
button on theDocuments
tab of the Property Information Panel and upload the document. - Select the correct document type and the issue date of the document before clicking
Upload documents
. Please note that if you do not see the correct document type from the dropdown, reach out the support@withforerunner.com to have that document type added to your account. - The document will now appear as the correct document type on the property.
My Elevation Certificate has quality issues
Elevation Certificates that fail to process due to quality issues usually are illegible or had missing pages/section. We've outlined instructions for troubleshooting below, but if the EC is attached to a property in Forerunner and you simply want a record of the EC on the property without error detection, feel free to leave the EC unprocessed with no further action needed.
If the Elevation Certificate is missing pages, important sections or is illegible, Forerunner is most likely unable to run error detection on the document. If you find the missing page, find a version will all pages/sections present or find a version with better quality text, you can:
- Delete the unprocessed Elevation Certificate using the
Delete
button from theActions
menu. - Upload the new Elevation Certificate directly to the property it pertains to using the
Upload
button on theDocuments
tab of the Property Information Panel or through the+ New
button on the Elevation Certificates table.
